NBA free agency update: Andrew Bynum reportedly gets 2-year offer from Cavaliers

Dwight Howard, Andre Iguodala and Andrew Bynum were the three big names involved in a blockbuster four-team trade in August of 2012. Both Howard and Iguodala have found new homes again this offseason, as Howard has gone from the Lakers to the Rockets and Iguodala has gone from the Nuggets to the Warriors.

After not playing a game for the 76ers last season due to knee injuries, Bynum appears ready to move on as well. Bynum reportedly has received a two-year, $24 million offer from the Cavaliers, who already have signed Earl Clark and Jarrett Jack this offseason.

Signing Bynum is a bit of a risk considering his frequent health issues. While Bynum made the All-Star team and was among the best centers in the league in 2012, his health issues raise major red flags. He has only played all 82 games of a season once, in 2006-07.

According to Yahoo! Sports writer Adrian Wojnarowski, The Cavaliers? offer to Bynum has a team option in the second year of the deal to keep him from hitting free agency again if his knees heal well enough. However, if Bynum stalls making a decision on the Cavaliers? offer too long, Cleveland could move on and pursue other targets like Elton Brand or Andrei Kirilenko.

Bynum also has received interest from the Mavericks, who likely would have to eliminate Shawn Marion?s salary to afford him. However, the Mavericks are reportedly hesitant to let go of Marion, according to Eddie Sefko of the Dallas Morning News.

? Iguodala was already known to have been going to the Warriors, but there will be a new twist to the deal now. The Nuggets reportedly will sign and trade Iguodala to the Warriors as a part of a three-team deal that will send Randy Foye to the Nuggets while the Jazz will receive Richard Jefferson, Andris Biedrins and Brandon Rush along with draft picks. The Warriors also will receive Kevin Murphy from the Jazz as part of the deal.

The Warriors will use this deal to clear cap space, as the combination of Jefferson, Biedrins and Rush was worth more than $24 million. All three players are in the final years of their contracts.

The report indicates Foye, who averaged 10.8 points, 2.0 assists and 27.4 minutes per game as a starter last season, will sign a three-year, $9 million contract. By signing and trading Iguodala, the Nuggets get a $9 million trade exception that they can use any time within the next year.

There could be more trades coming in the NBA, as the Bucks and Hawks are said to be discussing a deal that would swap restricted free agents. According to ESPN?s Marc Stein, the Bucks would send Brandon Jennings to the Hawks for Jeff Teague, allowing Teague to reunite with former Hawks coach Larry Drew.

Jennings and Teague were among two of the better point guards in the league last season. Jennings averaged 17.5 points, 6.5 assists and 36.2 minutes per game, while Teague averaged 14.6 points, 7.2 assists and 32.9 minutes.

? Chris Kaman will return to Los Angeles but will be wearing a different jersey, as he?reportedly agreed to a one-year, $3.2 million deal with the Lakers on Monday. The deal comes soon after the Lakers found out Howard will not be returning to Los Angeles.

The 31-year-old spent the first eight seasons with the Clippers after he was drafted sixth overall in 2003. Kaman went on to become an All-Star in 2010 before being included in a trade for Chris Paul in 2011. He spent one season with the Hornets before playing in 66 games with the Mavericks last season. He averaged 10.5 points, 5.6 rebounds and 20.7 minutes per game for Dallas.

? The Lakers also are considering bringing back another former Clipper in Lamar Odom, according to Ramona Shelburne of ESPN. Odom, who spent seven seasons with the Lakers, averaged 4.0 points, 5.9 rebounds and 19.7 minutes per game last season with the Clippers.

? The Lakers were very busy Monday, as they reportedly waived Metta World Peace via amnesty to save them around $30 million. World Peace averaged 12.4 points, 5.0 rebounds and 33.7 minutes per game last season with the Lakers.

World Peace had a little fun with the news on Twitter, as he wrote tweets hinting at him being waived. However, he finished a string of tweets by writing: Ok. My breaking news is my oranges that I love will not be on sale at whole foods. Worst day ever!!

? The Clippers are eyeing another big man this offseason, as Antawn Jamison appears to be on their radar. The 37-year-old averaged 9.4 points, 4.8 rebounds and 21.5 minutes per game last season with the Lakers.
